I am thrilled to share that I have just finished writing the third draft of my book, “The Battle, God’s Armor, and Wonderful Freedom.” This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, as I’ve poured my heart and soul into these pages since December. Now, as I move into the next season of this project, I am placing this rough document into the hands of a few trusted readers and editors. Their insights and feedback will be invaluable in refining and improving the content, helping me to ensure that the final version is as impactful and inspiring as I hope it will be.
Handing over my manuscript feels both exciting and nerve-wracking. These readers will be the first to see the culmination of my efforts, the thoughts and reflections that have occupied my mind for months. It’s a bit like opening a window into my soul, allowing others to glimpse the ideas and messages that I believe God has placed on my heart. Their fresh perspectives will undoubtedly shed light on areas that need polishing and highlight strengths I might not have fully appreciated.
For the next few weeks, I plan to set the manuscript aside and patiently await their feedback. This process of waiting is an interesting phase in the book writing journey. It’s a time to step back, take a breath, and trust in the collaborative effort to bring this vision to life. Writing a book is indeed a unique adventure, filled with moments of inspiration, hard work, and a lot of faith. I am eager to see how this next chapter unfolds and to continue refining “The Battle, God’s Armor, and Wonderful Freedom” into a book that will touch and transform lives.
Hello everyone,
(note on picture: I described myself to ChatGPT and this is what it made. Remarkably accurate if you ask me! ha!)
Hello everyone,
I’m excited to bring you up to speed with the latest on my book-writing adventure! I’m now diving back into editing the second draft of my upcoming book. This phase is moving along quicker than the first draft, and I anticipate the third draft will be the swiftest yet.
The journey hasn’t been without its delays, primarily due to my recent and upcoming engagements. Last week, I had the privilege of teaching 1 & 2 Peter and Jude at Scotland Bible School. Looking ahead, this Friday, I'll be in Edinburgh presenting a workshop on the effectiveness of church planting via video locations, as we practice at our Paisley and Royston sites. The session aims to explore why and how this method could serve as a viable church planting option in Scotland.
Despite my busy schedule, returning to my writing has been exciting. Thank you all for your steadfast support and encouragement.
I am thrilled to announce that as of March 13, 2024, at precisely 16:40, I have completed the first draft of my book, currently titled “The Battle, God’s Armor, and Wonderful Freedom.” Such a journey!
To say I’m happy would be an understatement. The process of writing this book has been like embarking on an unforeseen adventure with out a map. Particularly, the completion of a chapter that I had initially believed would be straightforward became my Everest. This chapter, not the last in the sequence but certainly the most daunting, required not one, not two, but five attempts since early January. The struggle was real, yet, here I am, filled with relief and a sense of accomplishment, for I have finally crafted it in a way that flows perfectly with the rest of the book.
My immediate plan is to bask in this achievement and share my joy with my daughter and her YWAM SBS team while they are in town. After their departure, I will embark on the journey of refining this draft, a process I approach with equal parts excitement and determination.
In preparation for the second draft, I’ve already begun compiling notes on word choices, themes, and the overarching narrative arc. The aim is to weave a tighter, more cohesive message, one that leaves a lasting impact. Now that I can view the manuscript in its entirety, from the raw beginnings to its rough conclusion, I am more attuned to the nuances that need attention.
As I close this chapter (pun intended) and look ahead to the next phase of revision and refinement, I am filled with a sense of relief and joy. Here’s to the journey ahead, filled with more learning, growth, and joy as the pages of my book continue to come into shape. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Onward to the next chapter!
